Dr. Don Powers, B.Ed., DVM

VETERINARIAN

Dr. Don Powers graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994 and he is a partner at Lakewood Animal Hospital. He was born and raised in Regina and lives with his wife Lori, two girls, and many pets! He enjoys all aspects of small animal practice and marvels at how medicine and complementary medicine have changed. He strives to provide the best care to his clients and their loyal companions. He likes to travel, paint, go to movies and spend time with his family.

Dr. Jenny Skific, B.Sc.

VETERINARIAN

Dr. Jenny Skific achieved a Bachelor of Science at the Augustana University College in Camrose Alberta. While there she decided to become a veterinarian and then attended The Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon. She graduated in the spring of 2005.

While obtaining her veterinary degree, she went on many adventures around the world. In 2003 she spent 3 months in the North West Territories wilderness doing research on Doll Sheep Lung Parasites. During that time she survived with only one other person and no electricity or running water. In the winter of 2005 she spent a month in Uganda doing wildlife veterinary care. There she had the opportunity to work with the chimpanzees, lions, kob (a deer-like species), water buffalo, hyenas and native cattle with horns as long as she is tall.

Dr. Skific shares her life with her wonderful husband Morrie, their beautiful daughter Tana, adorable son Ryker, 3 cats “Anakin”, ‘Fluffy” and ‘George” and 3 overgrown puppies “Nina”, “Maggie” and “Rosie”. She has plenty of room in her heart for more.

Dr. Meredith Cross, DVM, CVA

VETERINARIAN

Dr. Meredith Cross joined the team at Lakewood Animal Hospital in December 2014. She graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011 after completing a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Regina.

Meredith’s personal commitment is to provide high-quality and compassionate care to her patients and clients. Her professional interests include internal medicine, oncology (cancer), and pain management.

Meredith shares her home with three much-loved and spoiled cats – Frank, Sherlock, and Merlin. In her free time, she enjoys cheering on the Saskatchewan Roughriders, relaxing at Lake Diefenbaker, playing beach volleyball, and curling.

Dr. Marilyn Sthamann, DVM, CVH

VETERINARIAN

Dr. Marilyn Sthamann has more than 30 years of practical experience in conventional and holistic veterinary medicine and her big passions are natural healing, supporting her patients and families, and living a healthy lifestyle. She loves her work and strives to empower her clients to take an active role in the healing process. She focuses on non-chemical and non-invasive natural treatment methods whenever possible.

In her treatment approach, she combines her knowledge of conventional veterinary medicine with natural nutrition, homeopathy, and refer to her colleagues in our practice who offer chiropractic, and acupuncture.

Outside of work life, she loves to spend time with her family, including her dogs. As she grew up in this area, she has extended family and friends close by. She loves reading, and enjoy being active walking, going to the gym, and even skiing! Practicing yoga helps to keep her grounded to get through the challenges that life brings.

She understands how much your animal friend means to you. She promises to do her best to help you keep him or her healthy and happy!

Dr. Sthamann won the Best of Regina Veterinarian award for 9 years in a row! She would like to thank everyone who voted and she really appreciates all the support.

Dr. Fran Walker, DVM

VETERINARIAN

Dr. Fran Walker grew up in Pense, Saskatchewan, and actually started working at the Lakewood Animal Hospital as a kennel assistant in 1994. She graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon in 2002. After graduation, she worked at a small animal clinic in Edmonton for 3½ years. She then worked at a small animal clinic in Calgary for 6 years before moving back to Regina. Fran has been "back home" at the Lakewood Animal Hospital since 2012.

Fran has a soft spot for kitties and a passion for feline behavior. Don't worry though, she still loves her canine patients! Fran is also interested in preventive wellness and hospice care. Fran's primary goal is to find ways to enhance the quality of life of her patients and to keep them happy and healthy for as long as possible.

In her free time, Fran enjoys yoga, walking, hiking, mountain biking, camping, cooking healthy meals for her family, painting, and all kinds of other crafty things. Fran lives in Regina with her husband, their daughter, and a black cat named Shadow.

Dr. Fran Walker is a Certified Cat Friendly Veterinarian.

Dr. Emily Horan, BSA, DVM, VSMT

VETERINARIAN

Dr. Emily Horan graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 2015 with an Animal Biosciences degree, then from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2019. Her interests include integrative medicine and animal behaviour. Emily is fear-free certified and loves incorporating these techniques into her patient handling.

She shares her home with many dogs and several pocket pets.

Outside of work Emily enjoys hiking and jogging. She also competes with her dogs in agility and teaches seminars and agility handling workshops.

Dr. Chanpreet Bath, BVSc, AH

VETERINARIAN

After attending Simon Fraser University in his hometown of Vancouver British Columbia, Dr. Chanpreet Bath graduated from Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in the summer of 2020.
He enjoys hands-on work which has helped fuel his passion for performing surgery and dentistry procedures. He strives to become better every day in order to provide the best possible care to his patients.
Outside of work, Chanpreet enjoys playing soccer and spending time with his 2 pet dogs, Magic and Rosie.

Dr. Kelly Eyford, DVM

Dr. Kelly Eyford grew up on a grain farm near Bagot, Manitoba. She received her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Manitoba before attending the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon.
Kelly enjoys working with many different species as she previously worked in a mixed animal clinic, and as a student had experiences with wildlife, zoo medicine and spent time at Free the Bears in Cambodia. She joined the team at Lakewood Animal Hospital in September 2022.
When she isn’t working, Kelly enjoys spending time with her husband, two kids, her dog and cat. She enjoys camping, snowboarding, cross country skiing, and travelling.

I grew up in Regina and graduated in 2006 from the Veterinary Technologist program at SIAST in Saskatoon. As Lakewood Animal Hospital’s office manager, I strive to ensure that our hospital is providing the best customer service and patient care for your animals. My husband and I have two children, a cat named Mitzy, and an English mastiff, Madeline and a rabbit named Chili.

Kristin

ASSISTANT MANAGER

Kristin spent her childhood in rural Saskatchewan riding horses with her friends. Her love for animals was encouraged by her family and extended family who always had a variety of dogs and cats underfoot. To this day family holidays are always a little chaotic.

Kristin has been with Lakewood Animal Hospital since 2020 when she started with the reception team. She is now working in management assisting Renee. Prior to that she worked extensively in the commercial photography industry, as well as, managing her own private fine art school, Red Fox Creative Studio.

She lives in Regina with her husband, one of three girls, two dachshunds (one sweet and one spicy) and two parrots (Green Cheek conures … both spicy, haha). In her spare time Kristin reads a lot of fiction, paints and teaches art lessons.

Kristin is passionate about empathetic animal welfare, snuggling animals and coffee.

Lyndsey

LEAD TECH - REGISTERED VETERINARY TECHNOLOGIST

Lyndsey graduated in 2013 from the Veterinary Technology Program at SIAST Kelsey Campus.

In the middle of her schooling, Lyndsey worked for Lakewood as a kennel assistant and couldn’t resist coming back for her technologist career. She currently resides in Regina with her husband, Owen, and their adorable little dachshunds, Peanut, Daisy and Theo along with her rambunctious cat, Jazzy.

Janae

REGISTERED VETERINARY TECHNOLOGIST

Janae was born and raised in Regina. She has always had an interest in veterinary medicine ever since she was little. Janae started out as a kennel technician in 2009 and then she took a course at Olds College where she graduated as an Animal Health Technician in 2012.

Janae lives in Regina with her husband, two kids and an adorable cat named Lincoln (named after the president).

Sandra

REGISTERED VETERINARY TECHNOLOGIST

Sandra was born and raised in rural Saskatchewan. She graduated from Fairview College with a diploma in Animal Health Technology. She joined Lakewood in the spring of 2000. Sandra shares her love of animals through client education and patient care. She works in all areas of the clinic and looks after our pharmacy. Sandra is married and has two children. They share their home with Hazel and Purell (Pearl) the french bulldogs, and Stanley, the ragdoll. Never a dull moment! The family enjoys hockey and dance in the winter and camping in the summer.

Ashley

REGISTERED VETERINARY TECHNOLOGIST

Ashley did her practicum here at Lakewood in March of 2018 and came back to join our team when she graduated the Veterinary Technology program at the Saskatoon Sask Polytechnic campus that same spring.

She loves all types of animals but has a special place in her heart for Shih Tzu’s. She has always aspired to be a veterinary technologist.

Outside of work, Ashley enjoys playing and watching baseball, and reading a good thriller novel with a cup of coffee in hand!

REGISTERED VETERINARY TECHNOLOGIST

Pnina graduated from the Animal Health Program at Thompson Rivers University in 2011. Since graduating she has practiced in British Columbia, Alberta and now Saskatchewan. Pnina joined Lakewood Animal Hospital in March of 2023.

Kendall

REGISTERED VETERINARY TECHNOLOGIST

Kendall grew up on a grain farm near Ituna Sk. She knew from a young age that she wanted to pursue a career with animals.

Kendall attended Lakeland College where she obtained her Animal Health Technology Diploma in 2016. During the beginning of her career, she achieved well-rounded experience with urgent and emergent animal care.

Kendall joined our team in September 2020. She enjoys the practical aspect of her day, such as performing dental prophys and patient treatments.

Kendall finds joy in getting to be apart of her patients care and seeing their medical journey over time.

In her free time, Kendall enjoys spending time with friends and family, being outside, playing sports, and helping out at the family farm. Kendall currently has 5 furbabies. Her three cats Susie, Gus, and Chloe, and two rescue dogs Otto and Grizzly- who happen to be tripods!

Naiomi

REGISTERED VETERINARY TECHNOLOGIST

Naiomi started working at Lakewood Animal Hospital in July 2015. She has always loved animals, and as a child, she always wanted to grow up to work in a veterinary clinic. Instead, she worked everywhere else until deciding to return to her original dream.
After working at the clinic for awhile – first as a receptionist, and then as a veterinary assistant – Naiomi decided to pursue further education in veterinary medicine. In 2019, she enrolled in the Animal Health Technology Distance Education program through Thompson Rivers University, completing the program in December 2021. She completed the final steps to become a Registered Veterinary Technologist in Spring 2022.
Naiomi is passionate about the specific needs of our most finicky feline patients, and is usually the first person to volunteer to handle a stressed out (spicy) cat. She recently completed her Cat Friendly Veterinary Professional certification through the American Association of Feline Practitioners.
In her spare time, Naiomi loves to spend time with her dog and two cats. She also enjoys singing, reading, and binge watching anime and sci-fi shows.

Michelle

LEAD RECEPTIONIST

Michelle is the Lead Veterinary Receptionist here at Lakewood, she has been with us since 2018.
Michelle has been obsessed with animals since she could remember and she loves all sorts of critters. She was previously the mama to two chameleons named Wasabi and Gandalf,

In her spare time you will find her hiking, camping or taking thousands of pictures of her two dogs. She has her own theatrical show at home in true husky fashion with her husky/ shepherd rescue pups, Loken and Samara.. They are always yelling, singing, talking back and bossing her around.
Michelle’s favorite patients are long hair dogs and cats(anything fluffy) but has a sweet spot for CCRezQ’s numerous puppies. Who can blame her!?

Before working with us she worked at a doggy day care and pet store. She looks forward to providing the best possible customer service to you and your furry family member!

Cori. ACMT

RECEPTIONIST

Cori has worked in the animal industry for approximately 20 years. She was the receptionist at another veterinary clinic for 10 years prior to joining us at Lakewood Animal Hospital. She has 3 Shelties, “Wicca” and “Spell”, and “Magic”.

She loves Agility, Herding, and Scenting training and has attended numerous seminars as far away as B.C. She trains with her dogs 2-3 times a week and competes in weekend trials around the province.

Claire was born in Regina, Saskatchewan. She graduated from Saskatchewan Polytechnic with a diploma in Early Childhood Education. Throughout the years, she worked passionately in various positions, which include Lead Educator and Center Supervisor. Working in these positions helped her gain a strong set of transferable skills, eventually leading her to the decision to switch career paths.

Claire spends her spare time with her husband and two dogs, Jax and Stella. She also enjoys watching true crime documentaries, cooking, and going for walks. She is excited to be exploring her passion for animals and hopes to continue to learn and build her skill set working at Lakewood Animal Hospital. She looks forward to meeting you and your furry friend!

Chantal

RECEPTIONIST

Chantal’s positive attitude, smiling face, and exceptional communication skills help make both our clients and animal patients feel welcomed. You can count on her to follow through with your requests and make sure your needs are looked after.

She originally worked as a part of the Reception Team at LAH in June 2008. In February 2010, she decided to take a break to pursue her interests in Optometry. She then started working as an Optometric Assistant and got her Canadian Certification in October 2010. Chantal missed her furry friends so much that she returned to LAH in September 2013 and has enjoyed every minute since. In 2019, she took on the role as Lead Receptionist. since then, most of her time is spent behind the scenes working on scheduling for our staff and making sure the clinic runs smoothly. Her most valued skill is problem solving, though she takes the highest pride in training the new staff and watching them blossom into independent, and friendly receptionists.

She and her spouse, Dion, welcomed their son into the world in November 2015. They are currently expecting to add another family member in August 2023. They also share their home with two Yorkshire terriers. Oliver and Molly, and their cat, Chase. Chantal enjoys spending her free time spoiling her babies, furry ones included of course!

EXAM ROOM ASSISTANT

Brianne was employed with Lakewood Animal Hospital back in 2000 as a new graduate from the Veterinary Technician course in Saskatoon. After a few years she headed to Calgary to expand her career. She took a leave from the industry to be at home with her two children.

In 2021 we welcomed Brianne back to our clinic. Originally hired back as reception, she has since moved to a position as an Exam Room Assistant. She is now working towards her recertification for her Veterinary Technician diploma. You might see Brianne in all the areas around the clinic helping out.

When not busy a work, she enjoys time with her family out at the lake and spoiling their 4 cats (including a rescue from Ukraine).

Brianne has a soft spot for the feline patients and is a Certified Cat Friendly Practice team member

Fun Fact: Upon her return to Lakewood Animal Hospital she is once again working with 4 employees she did back in 2000!!

Diamond Krushelniski, ERA, assists the veterinarian in the exam room. Diamond started at the clinic in 2023. Prior to working at the clinic, Diamond started her first year of university in the social work department but has since decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. In her spare time Diamond enjoys road trips to the lake, walks and hanging out with friends and family. She shares her home with her two dogs Ace and Remy, two cats Coal and Whiskey and her foster fur babies! Diamond is persistent on learning and growing every day. She thrives on providing the most unique and personable care to all Lakewood Clients

Lia is a Veterinary assistant here at Lakewood. She has a strong passion for working with animals. She has always wanted to work in veterinary medicine since elementary school.

Lia was born and raised in Saskatoon. After high school she moved to Regina. In October of 2022, she transitioned to Calgary while training to become a professional dog groomer. Before working with us she worked at a doggy day care as a dog bather and groomer apprentice for many years.

Lia has taken extra training to become a cat advocate in our clinic! She really enjoys helping with surgery and dentals. She loves to learn and is hoping to eventually go to school to be a veterinarian technician! In the treatment area of the clinic you will find her giving your animals all the hugs and cuddles.

Lia shares her home with 3 cats, Ellie, Pepsi, and Dr Pepper as well as her dog Maple. In her free time she likes to do photography, be in nature and spend time with her animals!

Lia believes In making sure that every pet that comes in our clinic is given love and support and makes sure to treat every animal like it’s her own!

Gabi

VETERINARY ASSISTANT

Gabi is a veterinary technician assistant. She joined the Lakewood Animal Hospital team in May of 2023. She started her career in veterinary medicine as a veterinary assistant in British Columbia where she went to university. Gabi graduated from UBC with a Bachelor of Science with honours and has used skills learned there in her professional journey in the veterinary field.

Once moving back to Regina from BC, Gabi got a kitten named Mars. Mars is a stubborn eater who is obsessed with everyone’s food except his own. He loves to play and cuddle. He was a bottle fed baby and so he will wake up his mom in the middle of the night by biting her face. Mars has many friends in the household he is in, but is currently an only child. Gabi is planning on getting another cat eventually, but right now is pretty focused on raising Mars to be the best cat he can be.

Gabi truly believes that every pet should be loved and that loving a pet can make life worth living. She is motivated by the love she has for her cat to be her best self and show love to all the animals she comes across.

She enjoys reading mysteries, drawing, weight lifting, and playing video games in her spare time.

Gabi wants every client to know that their fur friend is in the hands of someone who cares for them.

Taylor

ASSISTANT

Taylor was born and raised in Regina, Sk. She is currently working on a degree in Biology with hopes of pursuing a career in Veterinary Medicine. She spent two years working as an assistant/receptionist in a rural, mixed animal practice and is balancing out her knowledge as Lakewood Animal Hospital is providing her with a glimpse into the homeopathic side of veterinary medicine.

She loves to spend time with her two furry family members, Mya, the golden retriever, and her mischievous cat, Bella. In her spare time, Taylor can be found teaching yoga, spending time with her family and friends, or planning her next travel adventure.
