Veterinarian

I graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994 and am a partner at Lakewood Animal Hospital. I was born and raised in Regina and live with my wife Lori, two girls, and many pets! I enjoy all aspects of small animal practice and marvel at how medicine and complementary medicine have changed. I strive to provide the best care to my clients and their loyal companions. I like to travel, paint, go to movies and spend time with my family.

Dr. Jenny Skific, B.Sc.
Veterinarian

Dr. Jenny Skific achieved a Bachelor of Science at the Augustana University College in Camrose Alberta. While there she decided to become a veterinarian and then attended The Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon. She graduated in the spring of 2005.

During that time she survived with only one other person and no electricity or running water. In the winter of 2005 she spent a month in Uganda doing wildlife veterinary care. There she had the opportunity to work with the chimpanzees, lions, kob (a deer-like species), water buffalo, hyenas and native cattle with horns as long as she is tall.

Dr. Skific shares her life with her wonderful husband Morrie, their beautiful daughter Tana, adorable son Ryker, 3 cats “Anakin”, ‘Fluffy” and ‘George” and 3 overgrown puppies “Nina”, “Maggie” and “Rosie”. She has plenty of room in her heart for more.

Dr. Marilyn Sthamann, DVM, CVH
Veterinarian

Hi all, my name is Marilyn Sthamann. I have more than 30 years of practical experience in conventional and holistic veterinary medicine and my big passions are natural healing, supporting my patients and families, and living a healthy lifestyle. I love my work and strive to empower my clients to take an active role in the healing process. I focus on non-chemical and non-invasive natural treatment methods whenever possible.

In my treatment approach, I combine my knowledge of conventional veterinary medicine with natural nutrition, homeopathy, and refer to my colleagues in our practice who offer chiropractic, acupuncture, and physiotherapy.

Outside of work life, I love to spend time with my family, including our dogs Emma and Rue. As I grew up in this area, I have extended family and friends close by. I love reading, and enjoy being active walking, going to the gym, and even skiing! Practicing yoga helps keep me grounded to get through the challenges that life brings.

I understand how much your animal friend means to you. I promise I will do my best to help you keep him or her healthy and happy!

Dr. Sthamann won the Best of Regina Veterinarian award for 9 years in a row! She would like to thank everyone who voted and she really appreciates all the support.

Jodi
Veterinary Assistant

Jodi has been involved with training dogs for almost ten years.  Her current dogs are Grover, an 8-year old Australian Shepherd, Odie, a 10-year old GSD/Border Collie Mix, and Katie, a 2 year-old Australian Shepherd.

After taking many types of classes with my dogs over the years, Jodi decided to branch out, and take some formal training. Her formal education is through the Jean Donaldson Dog Training Academy. She is currently very involved with her studies with the program, which has very rigorous high standards.

Jodi’s current dog, Odie, was the catalyst for her wanting to learn more about dog behaviour. Odie is quite reactive towards most other dogs, both on and off-leash.  She chose to follow a positive, force-free philosophy when training dogs and believes that every dog needs to be treated fairly and humanely.

Jodi has extensive experience working privately with clients who have dogs who are reactive/aggressive towards other animals. She has also assisted many clients over the years who have dogs with anxiety/fear issues and Separation Anxiety.

Leash Reactivity classes are Jodi’s teaching specialty. She also has experience teaching many types of dog classes, including Loose Leash Walking Skills, Recall Work, Jumping Up, Basic Manners/Obedience, and Puppy Life Skills classes.

Jodi currently competes with Grover, her talented Aussie, in Barnhunt. Grover recently achieved his Open Title in the sport, and also took 1st place and a High in Class in his category. They also train regularly in Rally-O and have dabbled in Agility and Herding.

Jodi’s most recent dog, Katie, actually happens to be deaf. However, this does not stop her from being yet another talented Aussie of Jodi’s. Katie currently competes in Barnhunt, and Agility, and most recently started to try her “paw” in Rally-O training as well!
