Dr. Marilyn Sthamann, DVM, CVH

Hi all, my name is Marilyn Sthamann. I have more than 30 years of practical experience in conventional and holistic veterinary medicine and my big passions are natural healing, supporting my patients and families, and living a healthy lifestyle. I love my work and strive to empower my clients to take an active role in the healing process. I focus on non-chemical and non-invasive natural treatment methods whenever possible.

In my treatment approach, I combine my knowledge of conventional veterinary medicine with natural nutrition, homeopathy, and refer to my colleagues in our practice who offer chiropractic, acupuncture, and physiotherapy.

Outside of work life, I love to spend time with my family, including our dogs Emma and Rue. As I grew up in this area, I have extended family and friends close by. I love reading, and enjoy being active walking, going to the gym, and even skiing! Practicing yoga helps keep me grounded to get through the challenges that life brings.

I understand how much your animal friend means to you. I promise I will do my best to help you keep him or her healthy and happy!

Dr. Sthamann won the Best of Regina Veterinarian award for 9 years in a row! She would like to thank everyone who voted and she really appreciates all the support.

I like to travel, paint, go to movies and spend time with my family.

Dr. Fran Walker

Dr. Fran Walker grew up in Pense, Saskatchewan, and actually started out working at the Lakewood Animal Hospital as a kennel assistant in 1994. She graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon in 2002. After graduation, she worked at a small animal clinic in Edmonton for 3 ½ years. She then worked at a small animal clinic in Calgary for 6 years before moving back to Regina. Fran has been “back home” at the Lakewood Animal Hospital since 2012.

Fran has a soft spot for kitties and a passion for feline behavior. Don’t worry though, she still loves her canine patients! Fran is also interested in preventive wellness and hospice care. Fran’s primary goal is to find ways to enhance the quality of life of her patients and to keep them happy and healthy for as long as possible.

In her free time, Fran enjoys yoga, hiking, biking, camping, scrapbooking, painting, and all kinds of other crafty things. Dr. Jenny Skific, B.Sc.

Dr. Jenny Skific achieved a Bachelor of Science at the Augustana University College in Camrose Alberta. While there she decided to become a veterinarian and then attended The Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon. She graduated in the spring of 2005.

During that time she survived with only one other person and no electricity or running water. In the winter of 2005 she spent a month in Uganda doing wildlife veterinary care. There she had the opportunity to work with the chimpanzees, lions, kob (a deer-like species), water buffalo, hyenas and native cattle with horns as long as she is tall.

Dr. Skific shares her life with her wonderful husband Morrie, their beautiful daughter Tana, adorable son Ryker, 3 cats “Anakin”, ‘Fluffy” and ‘George” and 3 overgrown puppies “Nina”, “Maggie” and “Rosie”. She has plenty of room in her heart for more.

Kendall attended Lakeland College where she obtained her Animal Health Technology Diploma in 2016. She has spent the past 4 years achieving well-rounded experience with urgent and emergent animal care.

Kendall joined our team in September 2020. She enjoys the practical aspect of her day, such as performing dental prophys and patient treatments.

She originally worked as a part of the Reception Team at LAH in June 2008.  In February 2010, she decided to take a break to pursue her interests in Optometry.  She then started working as an Optometric Assistant and got her Canadian Certification in October 2010. Chantal missed her furry friends so much that she returned to LAH in September 2013 and has enjoyed every minute since.  She absolutely loves meeting everyone’s fur babies, young and old!

She and her spouse, Dion, welcomed their son into the world in November 2015.  They also share their home with two Yorkshire terriers. Oliver and Molly, and their cat, Chase.  Chantal enjoys spending her free time spoiling her babies, furry ones included of course!

Cori. ASMT

Cori has worked in the animal industry for approximately 16 years.  She was the receptionist at another veterinary clinic for 10 years prior to joining us at Lakewood Animal Hospital.  She has 3 dogs, two Shelties, “Wicca” and “Spell, and an Australian Shepherd, “Raven”.  Cori spends most of her free time with her dog’s training for agility trials.  She loves Agility training and has attended numerous seminars as far away as B.C.  She trains with her dogs 2-3 times a week and competes in weekend trials around the province.  Raven has competed in agility nationals twice and has qualified to go 4 times!

Jodi has been involved with training dogs for over eight years.  Her current dogs are Grover, an 8-year old Australian Shepherd, and Odie, a 10-year old GSD/Border Collie Mix. After taking many types of classes with my dogs over the years, Jodi decided to branch out, and take some formal training.

Her formal education is through the Jean Donaldson Dog Training Academy. She is currently very involved with her studies with the program, which has very rigorous high standards.

Jodi’s current dog, Odie, was the catalyst for her wanting to learn more about dog behaviour. Odie is quite reactive towards most other dogs, both on and off-leash.  She chose to follow a positive, force-free philosophy when training dogs and believes that every dog needs to be treated fairly and humanely.

Jodi has extensive experience working privately with clients who have dogs who are reactive/aggressive towards other animals. She has also assisted many clients over the years who have dogs with anxiety/fear issues and Separation Anxiety.

Leash Reactivity classes are Jodi’s teaching specialty. She also has experience teaching many types of dog classes, including Loose Leash Walking Skills, Recall Work, Jumping Up, Basic Manners/Obedience, and Puppy Life Skills classes.

Jodi currently competes with Grover, her talented Aussie, in Barnhunt. Grover recently achieved his Open Title in the sport, and also took 1st place and a High in Class in his category. They also train regularly in Rally-O and have dabbled in Agility and Herding.

Taylor was born and raised in Regina, Sk. She is currently working on a degree in Biology with hopes of pursuing a career in Veterinary Medicine. She loves to spend time with her two furry family members, Mya, the golden retriever, and her mischievous cat, Bella. In her spare time, Taylor can be found teaching yoga, spending time with her family and friends, or planning her next travel adventure.

Melanie was born and raised in Esterhazy, Sk. and has lived in Regina since her late teens. After running a daycare out of her home for 7 years she decided it was time to get back out into the working world. Completing both an Administrative Assistant and Medical Terminology course paid off as she was hired in March of 2018 as a receptionist at the clinic. On her days off, she and her husband keep busy with their 2 children and their dog, Bear.

Veterinary Assistant

Paige lived in Vancouver before moving to Regina at the age of 10.  Even after many years on the prairies, she still thinks of the West Coast as home and goes back to visit friends as often as she can.  Paige has loved animals her entire life and has yet to meet one she did not like.  Over the years she has shared her home with hedgehogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, leopard geckos and hamsters just to name a few.

Paige currently splits her time between the clinic and the university as she works toward a social work degree.

Veterinary Assistant

Naiomi started working as a receptionist at Lakewood Animal Hospital in July 2015. She has always loved animals, and as a child, she always wanted to grow up to work in a veterinary clinic. Instead, she worked everywhere else. She has worked as a receptionist in the past and is eager to learn more about the veterinary world, and hopes the German shepherd cross and two cats that let her live with them don’t mind her occasionally practicing on them. (Sorry about the anal glands, Domino…) Naiomi looks forward to making a career out of her personal passion for helping furry critters.
